Meet Valerie #clientbrag
We have some of the BEST clients. Don’t take our word for their #barrelove, hear it from our very own local #barrebabes! Meet Valerie, a regular at the CVILLEstudio.
1. What brought you to the barre and what made you stay at barre.[d]?
I came to barre.[d] to find a daily self care routine that gave me an outlet to destress and relieve my anxiety. In my adult life, I have come to realize the importance exercise has been for me for my mental health. I have a job that requires a lot of logical thinking, reasoning, and coordination, which can be mentally exhausting. I needed a way to wear my body out while keeping my mind at ease. I found that having someone tell me what to do at a studio was exactly what I needed mentally, and the workouts were challenging but also adaptable for how I felt that day. I stayed at barre.[d] because of the location (it was so close to my office!), and the community. I have made many friendships through the Charlottesville studio, and hope to continue to meet other awesome barre babes in the future!
2. What do you like about the Barred workout?
I love that the barre.[d] workouts are adaptable. There are so many modifications for you if your body is just not feeling it that day, or if you want an extra challenge! I love that I can bring my mom and mother in law, and they can get a great work out, but don’t feel like it hurts their joints. I also LOVE the specialty classes.
3. If you could design your own playlist, what song would you choose for finishing class with back-dancing?!
I love the 1990s/early 2000s throwback playlists. I’d probably chose “No Diggity” while using a ball or band for a slow burn, or “Milkshake” by Kelis for fast paced hip shakes!
4. What are you most proud of this year?
I am most proud of my team (Odessa’s Monarchs) for raising $1620 to go to Children’s Tumor Foundation (CTF) for research to finding a cure for Neurofibromatosis (NF)! Odessa’s Monarchs ran in the frigid 30 degree weather on Feb 9, in Washington DC for the event “Cupids Undie Run”. This event and foundation holds close to my heart because my sister, Odessa, has NF Type 2 and is now confined to a wheelchair for the rest of her life. It was such an amazing event, and I met so many wonderful people who have loved ones with NF, or have NF themselves. I hope to run again next year and raise even more money to end NF!
